Gabriel had to call on every ounce of his willpower to lay his arms still as Ilana moved over him, her breasts brushing his chest.

Her face was serious as she hovered over him, the humor that normally brightened her eyes shadowed by a new, more focused intent.

He could sense the potential between them, chemistry as combustible as it was uncharted. He would hand over the reins if she wanted to drive.

The push-pull between them was undeniable. She gave herself over with such bold abandon that he wanted to give her everything he had in return. The taste of her surrender was intoxicating, empowering, pushing him to new depths of desire he was only now discovering.

He couldn’t change what had happened to them. But he could provide whatever comfort and solace she needed now, and maybe take some for himself too.

As she leaned down to kiss him he slipped his fingers into her hair at the nape of her neck, gripping just enough to inspire a soft sigh from her throat. She deepened the kiss, rubbing the front of her body over his before perching her pussy over the tip of his cock, now straining at the thought of her hot body tightening around him.

Ilana slid onto him with one smooth motion, lifting up her ass only to go deeper on the next drop. Gabriel drew in a hard breath through his teeth, grasping her thighs as she rode him to near madness. Then she leaned over him, her breath grazing his skin before she suckled on his neck. She slowed the thrust of her hips, torturing him with shallow dips while her tongue played with his earlobe. Torturing them both, based on her labored breathing.

He moved his arms down her back to clutch her waist as his hips came up to meet hers, their combined motion slowing into longer strokes. She straightened like a vision of aphrodite above him, breasts bouncing in all their glory, her face lost to sensation. He clenched everything in his body to keep from coming but she was inexorable. Her breath came faster, harder as his hips rose to meet hers, their bodies lifting off the bed with each thrust.

Ilana’s rhythm frayed as her cries escalated. Gabriel could only hold on for dear life as her pulsing pussy wrenched a mind-shattering orgasm from his body, tumbling through piercing peaks of pleasure.

Gabriel nuzzled into Ilana’s shoulder and held her close. As his brain rebooted him back to reality, he feared what he might see on Ilana’s face when he pulled back. He’d given so much of himself, a single dismissive word or gesture from her could eviscerate him. What if she hadn’t shared the same level of intensity? Or what if she had – and she chose to squash it now?

The gentle massage of her fingertips over his scalp interrupted his anxious thoughts, dissolved them to quiet. When he did pull back to face her, she gave him a blissed-out smile that allayed his worries.

They regarded each other for a minute, neither making a move to untangle.

Then she grinned, triumphant. “I see you’re finally out of syllables.”

He dropped his head back and laughed. “Yes. Yes, I am.”

Ilana fell asleep shortly after, her behind nestled into his front, Gabriel’s legs bracketing hers. He cradled her in his arms like something precious, wondering how he’d manage to find her, how he might manage to keep her in his life after the morning. He fell asleep to the gentle rise and fall of her shoulders as outside the window the sun rose over the curve of the Earth.

He woke up to a tantalizing dream only to encounter the reality of Ilana’s wiggling bottom against his erection. He happily accepted the morning treat, slipping his cock into her as she rocked into him, a quiet taking punctuated by low moans and sighs.

They continued to worship each other’s bodies for a second round in the shower. Ilana braced against the rail as Gabriel took her from behind, their lips chafed with each other, tinged with desperation. They spoke little as their time together rounded to a close – whatever Gabriel could think of to say felt simultaneously superfluous and cumbersome. Their primary language had become physical, expressing what they couldn’t in words.

As Gabriel dressed, Ilana activated a holo over the desk. “Huh. The Admiral has asked to keep my suit as part of the evidentiary record. She printed a new one in its place.”

She opened the replicator port, removed a stack of dark clothes, and whistled. “Wow.”

“What is it?” Gabriel asked, sitting on the bed to put on his shoes.

“It’s just… an amazing set. Like, I splurged on my suit but I never even considered this model it was so far beyond the stratosphere of my budget.”

She put on the pants, shirt, and jacket, adjusting the fit and customizing the garment’s options through the menu on its sleeve. Parts of the material changed colors to gray and deep maroon with silver accents. She activated the helmet, the panels unfolding from her collar, and gasped. “Oh my god. This suit is vacuum-proof! That’s incredible.”

She did a turn in the mirror then glanced at him.

“Looks great,” he said through a tight-lipped smile. Although the suit wasn’t technically a gift, it straddled the line a little too much for Gabriel’s taste. From his experience, few gifts came without strings, but Ilana didn’t seem to mind.

“I guess I didn’t really have time to get attached to the other one,” she said.

Her words echoed between them like the gong of a bell – technically, they’d known each other for even less time than she’d had her old suit. Gabriel wondered if she realized the double implication of her words. Either way, the sentiment wasn’t encouraging. They faced off from across the room, the air between them now heavy with all they’d left unsaid.

He decided to say something. “I’d like to see you again.”

Ilana deactivated the holo. “I’d like that too.”

He smiled and stood, going to her. “Good,” he murmured as she raised her face to him.

Gabriel couldn’t get enough of touching her. He framed her face with his hands and bent to take her lips in a soft, languid kiss.

She grasped his hands as she rose to her tiptoes, meeting him halfway.

“You have my contact,” she said as they broke away. “I don’t know how often you come out that way, but…” she bit her lip. “It would be nice if you came to visit.”

“I hear Saturn’s beaches are excellent this time of year.”

She laughed then stopped at his expression. “Wait. Is that true?”

“It is. Apparently, the manmade resorts orbiting Saturn’s moons have some of the best views you can get of the rings. I’ve just never had a reason to go before.”

Ilana smiled and dipped her chin, her fingers playing with his collar. “That sounds nice.”

“Excellent. It’s a plan, then.”

She followed him to the door and leaned against the frame as he slipped out into the low-lit hall. He took one last taste of her lips before they said goodbye.

Leaving her room was like stepping out of a dream. He heard the soft click of her door behind him shortly before he reached his own.

Gabriel started drafting a message to Maisha before he passed the threshold to his room. He should’ve notified his business partner last night about the success of their product out in the world – but for once his mind had been elsewhere.

He was pretty sure Maisha wouldn’t mind the delay if she knew the reason behind it.

Just as he sent his quick note to Maisha – Major developments on the crisis pocket (and you’re right, we might need a new name). I’ll meet you at the lab when I arrive – another message from the Admiral popped up in his contacts.

Dr. Fontaine, could you please meet our research and development team on Level 1 at 0900 hours? We could use your expertise on some of our findings. I believe you’ll find our data to be of interest to your own research as well.

His contacts displayed a three-dimensional map with a green line leading from his location to the top deck of the ship.

“Fuck it,” he muttered and called Maisha on voice.
